The Anchorage - Executive Accommodation
Enjoy the tranquil setting of The Anchorage offering wonderful views of the river and only ten minutes from the heart of Hobart.
Nestled in the leafy suburb of Taroona our spacious apartment offers everything a visitor could require and more. Imagine enjoying a well deserved glass of wine on the balcony whilst being soothed by the relaxing sounds of the water feature nestled in the garden below.
We offer an open plan dining, lounge area and a well equipped modern kitchen plus two spacious double bedrooms (queen size beds) and one twin. Perfect for a family or two couples (can accommodate up to 6).
One double features an en-suite and the other double has sliding door access to a full size family bathroom (with a bath). Off the second bathroom is a separate laundry with a front loader washing machine and dryer. Or if you prefer to let the sun dry your clothes there is a private clothes line just outside.
If cooking isn't on the agenda, we are only a few minutes walk to the Taroona Bar & Bistro offering a delightful a la carte menu or wood fired pizzas (open 7 days a week). A terrific option after a busy day's sightseeing!
Alternatively, pick up a scrumptious treat from the Picnic Hamper (the local bakery/cafe), just across from the bistro. They also offer a delicious breakfast menu (and make a great coffee) plus it's a handy place to pick up the makings for a picnic to take on your daily travels. Whilst you're there, make sure you ask the locals about Hinsby Beach (a lovely beach within walking distance from the apartment). It's very private and the perfect place for children. The beach can be accessed from a coastal walkway where locals take their daily exercise along the river front.
Lipscombe Larder is also only a five minute drive up the road and offers the finest gourmet food and a good selection of Tasmanian wine so it's well worth the visit!
If you are staying on longer and want access to a supermarket, you can either drive 10 minutes up the road to Sandy Bay or take the scenic route to Kingston (also only 10 minutes) where you will find a large array of shops and services.
The road to Kingston is also the gateway to the beautiful D'Entrecasteaux Channel where you can discover restaurants, wineries and beautiful secluded bays. Or perhaps head towards the Huon Valley and join the wine trail or mooch around antique shops and discover some treasures.
Heading north, you can experience a day at MONA, take a leisurely stroll around Salamanca or visit the historic site of Richmond. In fact whatever direction you decide to take, The Anchorage is the perfect anchor point to come home to after a day's sightseeing.
PS By the way, keep an eye out for Bourkey at The Anchorage. If he is in town there is a good chance you'll be invited to join him and his partner Vic for an afternoon cruise on the river!
